Child nutrition departments from the Lee County, DeSoto County, and Grenada School Districts hosted a staff development for all kitchen employees.
Held Monday in Oxford, there were 358 kitchen employees, nine food and supply vendors, and three wonderful speakers in attendance. Employees tasted new food items that will be on the menu this year and learned how to create delicious recipes, such as jalapeño pineapple salsa and frozen yogurt.
LCSD staff are eager to start the new year and are ready to serve. Child Nutrition Director Valerie Weivoda states, “We had a wonderful staff development. We’re all excited about the new year. The food supply chain finally feels stable. So we can’t wait to start student testing new products and recipes.”
