🚨 Attention all drivers: School starts this Thursday. Remember to slow down in school zones and always stop for school buses! It is illegal to pass a school bus while the stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.

Monday started off a busy week around the district! Teachers and staff are in meetings and are getting classrooms ready to welcome students on Thursday.

Our central office staff welcomed new educators this week, as they get ready for their "first day of school" as a teacher. School starts next Thursday!

A new sensory room at Verona Elementary is now ready for use! Thanks to the Junior Auxiliary of Tupelo for their planning and work that made this a reality. Many of our students will benefit.

This year’s arts team at Saltillo Elementary with field advisor Mark Maharrey. They're working hard and learning lots at Mississippi Whole Schools Summer Institute at USM in Hattiesburg!

Saltillo High School seniors BreAnne Sparks and Katie Nock put their artistic talents to use for a summer service project. This series of canvases will brighten the walls at the Lee County School District Bus Shop. Awesome job!

The Mississippi Lions All-State Band is off and running! And Mooreville High's Hayden Martin and Colton Namie are a part of it! Hayden and Colton have been gone for a week learning their routines and perfecting their performance. They are now leaving the U.S. to head to Australia to play during the Lions International Convention in Melbourne. Have fun and be safe!

Congratulations to Guntown Middle Beta Club members Zoey Conwill and Emlianne Owens. They brought home two 1st place awards, a 4th place, and Best in Show during the National Junior Beta Convention in Savannah, Georgia. Also pictured are club sponsors Dianne Floyd and Abby Mauney.

Congratulations goes to Plantersville Middle School Principal Dr. Lindsay Brett. Dr. Brett is the Mississippi Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) Middle School Principal of the Year! Dr. Brett is pictured with Plantersville Middle Assistant Principal Jerrion Smith.

Saltillo High School's archery team is number two in the nation after competing in the NASP tournament in Florida. The team has already won 12 state consecutive state championships and can now add the title of #2 in the NATION! Congratulations! 🏹

Swish! 🏀 Pirate Basketball Camp was held this week at Plantersville Middle School. The Pirates worked hard and had a great time, too! #PirateNation #EducateServeInspire

Tombigbee Electric Power Association partnered with CoBank and TVA to provide a generous donation to Guntown Middle Food Pantry and other groups in the area. Pantry coordinator Vanessa Washington accepted the gift. We sincerely thank you!

The school year just ended, but we're getting ready for the next one! Principals, assistant principals, and other district leaders are in planning sessions this week for the 2024-25 school year. Presentations and discussions are taking place on a wide range of issues that help us #EducateServeInspire. Thanks to the Lee County CTE Center for hosting this group.

Construction crews are busy this summer at Shannon High's football field. As part of a previous districtwide bond issue, complete field renovations are underway. We can't wait for players and fans to return to the football field at Shannon High this fall to see the improvements!
